Change: One hard to learn lesson throughout my journey, with the lord, has been knowing when to make a change – the timing of change. Here are a few thoughts of the insight of hindsight: 1. Be more committed to the Lord than your assignment – I admire commitment (Lord knows we need some today) but the preeminent commitment must be to the Lord not: a place, a people or a project. 2. Be willing, especially early in your ministry, to move on to the next assignment. When opportunity knocks, look out the peephole for the Lord 3. Watch for the favor of God when considering a change. If there is no favor, then look elsewhere if there is doubt in your heart. I recently declined a great opportunity for this very reason – lack of favor with the leadership. 4. No matter what your change, consider it a promotion from the Lord even when you don’t understand it. 5. Adapt and devote yourself to be the best at your new assignment. Find out what it takes to be the best in your position. 6. Fast and pray about the opportunities especially when there are several at one time. I fasted once for 40 days because of three major decisions I had to choose from. Fasting speaks and here is what it says (besides I am starving to death), “this is more important to me than food.” |
